I am proud that I was able to sign the statement, and proud to stand beside the Canadian authors who did.
I believe that UBC has handled the investigation of the Steven Galloway case extremely badly, and should now work to undo the damage that the university’s bungling has produced.
To support an open investigation, with fairness and due process, is the opposite of supporting injustice, and indeed the opposite of targetting women who feel vulnerable. I hope that as emotions cool down, the important issues raised here will be discussed with care, and that nobody else will be subjected to the Salem-like treatment imposed on Steven Galloway.
